     Hoops for Christ was founded by John W. Davis in 2016. After graduating from Beau Chene High school in Arnaudville, La., he went on to further his basketball career at Louisiana Christian University. He began his coaching career in 1994. The primary focus was a way to generate income; however, in 1995 he quickly realized his calling and passion for coaching. It was the response from his players, the look in their eyes, the comments that were made. It was during this time that much of his purpose was discovered. “To impact people’s lives through the game of basketball.” He immediately embraced this calling. Though he worked a secular job to provide for his family, he never abandoned his calling.  He has coached every year since 1994. He has coached both boys and girls from ages 5 all the way through high school. He has won 8 Homeschool National titles in 10 years but his most distinguished titles have been won off the court. The testimony of many of his athletes and how their lives have been impacted. This is the heartbeat and very existence of HFC “Partnering with parents to prepare kids for life”. He was active volunteer at the Cole Community Center from 2016-2019 and served on the Board of Director for ONE (Our Neighborhood Empowered). He currently serves on the MADF (Make a Difference Foundation) Board which is affiliated with Kimray.  He plans to continue his work with youth development and engage in more partnerships that affect our youth.   

   The mission of HFC is to impact people with the gospel of Jesus Christ through basketball (Hoops for Christ). We intend to train and equip soldiers (Warriors) in the army of the Lord to be ambassadors in the earth, on and off the court. We train with a passion and a zeal that will set us apart both in athletics and for the Gospel’s sake. We are committed to becoming difference makers and world changers. We intend to do this by allowing God’s desires to become our desires. We are a people that are R.I.C.H. in Respect, Integrity, Character, and Honor. We do everything heartily as unto the Lord.   

     Our goals are to develop the fundamentals of each player, so as they transition through various levels, they will have a firm grasp on the concepts being shared. This will help the individual to contribute and be productive for their respective teams and coaches. Giving the players the best opportunity to further their careers in sports, school, and beyond.
